A child remains in SickKids hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car in Scarborough, paramedics confirm.
The 12-year-old boy was struck on Danforth Road near St. Clair Avenue East around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Witnesses say the boy got off a TTC bus and tried to cross the street when a silver Hyundai hit him.
“He was actually getting off the bus which was southbound on Danforth and he unfortunately did cross in front of that bus and was struck by a southbound vehicle,” Const. Clint Stibbe said.
Police say the distraught driver, a 34-year-old man, remained on scene. So far no charges have been laid.
Stibbe said they have yet to determine if speed was a factor in the crash.
Traffic Services has taken over the investigation.
As of Wednesday morning, the child remained in critical condition.
